A new educational program at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida shares forthcoming knowledge with the next generation of marketing professionals. “Marketing is Universal: Keeping the Guest at Heart,” was developed in partnership with DECA, a leading organization for career preparation.
“We’ll show examples of campaigns and explain why those campaigns were really successful,” said Teresa Crews, Universal Orlando Resort’s senior manager of program development.
Universal Orlando Resort has created dynamic marketing campaigns for hundreds of new guest experiences, including immersive theme parks, thrilling attractions and events.
Although not all schools have marketing classes, Crews said, “we’re finding there are a lot of business classes, entrepreneurship classes and digital arts classes” that are interested in the program.
“For example, a student government group would focus on understanding what the students in the school want from the organization and how they can deliver those messages in the school,” Crews said. “All student groups define and identify a problem in a specific area at their school. The goal is that at the end of this program, after they leave our park, they have created something on their own they can implement.”
Student groups that participate in “Marketing is Universal: Keeping the Guest at Heart” will learn insights from the brilliant minds behind the campaigns, followed by the chance to experience the attractions marketers helped bring to life.
Universal Orlando Resort Youth Programs also offers several other education programs focused on different subject areas. For example, Your Classroom in Motion: A STEAM App Series is comprised of independent application programs created to help students deepen their understanding of how science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics are integrated in rides and attractions.
