The center for Doctor Who merchandise in North America is located in Camby, Indiana, near Indianapolis.
Who North America is a 7,000-square-foot retail facility offering merchandise of all kinds related to Doctor Who, the world’s longest-running science fiction TV show.
The husband-and-wife team of Keith and Jany Bradbury own and operate Who North America.
The BBC launched the show in 1963. The doctor is a Time Lord who travels through space and time in the TARDIS, which looks from the outside like a blue British police box.
“I enjoyed the show as a kid,” said Keith Bradbury, who grew up in the United Kingdom.
In 1998, now an adult and living in the United States, Keith Bradbury started researching U.K. companies that were manufacturing Doctor Who products. He formed Who North America and began to import the items to the U.S. The company became the continent’s main distributor of Doctor Who merchandise.
Who North America continues to be an online store. But it started holding open warehouse events in 2010 so customers from the region could shop, hang out together, play games and watch Doctor Who.
Now with the purchase of the property in Camby, the Bradburys have more contact with their customers. They plan to develop a Doctor Who Merchandise Museum to display items from their collection. Think life-size working Daleks, one of the most feared villains in the Doctor Who series. A multipurpose room is used for fan gatherings, games and workshops.
The Bradburys will present a program on the history of Doctor Who for groups as long as it is arranged in advance.
Filling the store shelves are Doctor Who books, videos of the TV series, graphic novels, spinoffs, magazines, a fabric TARDIS, soundtracks, trading cards, action figures, posters, jewelry and apparel.
“You name it, we have it,” Jany Bradbury said. “We even have Doctor Who underwear.”
